I launched my podcast in 2005 as the Lifestyle CEO Show. I later changed the name to Indie Business Podcast, and ultimately hosted a weekly show over 300 times between 2005 and 2012. As technology progressed from the Dark Ages, I switched my podcast from the now defunct Global Talk Radio to Blog Talk Radio. This business arrangement did not work out as well as I thought it would, so earlier this year, I set up a self-hosted blogging platform, and have been in the re-creative process since then. It took a while, but today, I am thrilled to announce the new Indie Business Podcast.

Season 1, Episode 1: Show Notes
- Makers and Handmade Entrepreneurs are the stars of the show. My new podcast format makes YOU the star of the show. I loved interviewing authors and celebrities under the old former, but now, my focus is on sharing the best business models, insights, and tips from Makers nationwide. You'll enjoy being a fly on the wall as I pick their brains for everything from makes them tick, to what makes their cash registers ring.
- Each episode will be about 30-minutes long. For years, the podcast was 60 minutes long. That seemed so logical at the time, but today, you are business than ever so my intent will be to give you 30 minutes that are jam packed with information you can use in your business right now. It will be the perfect amount of time to get a quick burst of creative inspiration on your morning run or while you commute to and from work.
- The podcast will be produced in “seasons”. Podcasting may appear to be easy from the outside looking in, but it's not. A podcast requires a huge commitment and a lot of behind the scenes work. In hindsight, I see that I burned myself out by podcasting every week for so many years without taking a break.
I will avoid that this time by producing the podcast in seasons — just like they do on television. Each Season will include 12 episodes, and I'll take a break for a few weeks before starting a new season. I'm excited about this because I can use the break to *get* a break, and to have time to improve the show without having to rush.
- I'll include a Q+A segment. Most episodes will conclude with listener questions. I'm really excited about this because it is an easy way for you to have a chance to pick my brain about any topic having to do with entrepreneurship. You can use the app below from your smart phone or laptop to ask a question right now! Tell me your name, your business website (so I can promote you!), and be as specific as possible with your question. As you can see, I'll include a link to your website if we use your question on the show. This is a great way to get a cross promotional inbound link to your site, while enjoying complimentary expert help with your business.
Listener Questions
Cathy at Prairie Zen Botanicals asked: “What are the top things one should think about and/or do when considering opening a retail store?”
Lisa Buteux of Comfort and Joy Soap asked: “I send my newsletter out when I have a sale, about 3 times a year. I'm afraid that sending more will fill up people's inboxes too much. How do you send more newsletters without people unsubscribing?”
Ask a Question!
I love hearing from you and helping you solve your most pressing business problems NOW. If you have a question, use the app below to leave it on our voice mail. If I use your question on an episode, I will link to your site as I provide complimentary advice to help you use your business to create the life you love.
