About Pearl
Q: Tell us a little bit about your business.
Pearl says:
Realizing I needed to enjoy life now instead of waiting for retirement to do so, I moved to a city in Florida near sun and surf and started a business in honor of my mantra, which is: “In My Mind, I’m Already Retired.”
Embracing this lifestyle, I joined three non-profit clubs focusing on my three greatest passions: surfing, astronomy, and amateur (ham) radio. While participating in my favorite hobbies activities, I spent a lot of time outdoors and in the water. As enjoyable as this is, it has also been rough on my skin, so to keep things smooth and moisturized, I started making my own body butter.
After receiving numerous compliments on the scent and formula, and inquiries about where to purchase the product, I decided to open a business and start selling it. Through Beach Body Butter, I can continue helping the community by moisturizing their dry skin as I also treat my own!
Q: In addition to your business, do you have any other forms of income or work?
Pearl says:
I work as a licensed clinical social worker. I also secured a speaking engagement with GS1 Global to discuss Beach Body Butter’s use of 2D barcodes in anticipation of Sunrise 2027. Since Beach Body Butter's launch in October 2024, sales have been steadily growing, and I'm happy about the combination of income from everything so far.
Q: Why are you a good candidate for the Robin's Roses Entrepreneurial Scholarship?
Pearl says:
I am a strong candidate for the Robin's Roses Entrepreneurial Scholarship for two reasons.
First, Beach Body Butter is a quality, retail-ready, trademark-pending product. It's ready to go and growth is definitely on the horizon.
Second, as the founder, I am committed to collaborating with other small businesses to boost our revenue. I have participated in IBN’s Indie Business Blueprint Experience and Indie Business Blueprint Experience PLUS, and I actively participate in the Indie Business Network Facebook Group. I also work with other small businesses in my local economy and in water-related non-profit organizations.
