Other than the unofficial #IndieBusiness hash tag that we (and lots of others) use from time to time, the Indie Business Network has never had a hash tag of any kind. Today, we're excited to introduce our hash tag for 2015. Some people choose a “word of the year.” We have chosen a “hash tag of the year,” and here it is.
In case you don't know, a hash tag is a group of characters, preceded by a pound symbol, that is used as a “label” for a particular conversation or topic. For example, when I Instagram about our upcoming Indie Cruise Mastermind 2015, I often use the #IndieCruise hash tag. When you click on the hash tag in the Instagram post on your mobile device, a window opens displaying Instagrams of us and other Instagrammers using the #IndieCruise hash tag. The same thing happens on Twitter. Pretty cool, huh?
Why a Hash Tag?
Using a hash tag is an easy and fun way to create community and uplift among like-minded people.
When you use the #IndieFlow hash tag, you join Makers and Handmade Entrepreneurs from all over who are also joining you in a state of “flow” as they lead their businesses and pursue their goals for 2015.
Why #IndieFlow?
IBN's goal with the #IndieFlow hash tag is to inspire Makers to get and stay “in the flow” (some might say in the “zone”) as much as possible when it comes to what they want to achieve in 2015.
When you’re in “flow,” you are totally immersed in what can only be described as a deeply enjoyable, creative experience that leads to satisfaction in almost every area of your life: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial. It's a great feeling, and we want to have a lot of it this year!
When to use the #IndieFlow Hash Tag
Use it anytime you want. Use it on Twitter and Instagram. (You can use it on Facebook as well, but hash tags have never become as popular on Facebook as they have on Twitter and Instagram.)
Whenever you want to share that you are rocking it big time — making product, completing a blog post, designing new marketing materials, releasing a new website, hosting a sale, processing mega orders, landing a new wholesale account, creating a fun and lucrative new collaboration — use the #IndieFlow hash tag throughout the year to share your success in community with other forward looking creative entrepreneurs.
If you are having a down day, you can check out the #IndieFlow hash tag to see what others are doing to make things happen on that day. Don't compare yourself to them, but use the hash tag to find inspiration and encouragement to continue forward on your unique journey — even when the going gets tough.
If you use the hash tag, others using it will see your #IndieFlow and be inspired as well.
This Only Works if You Use It
This is an experiment of sorts. We have never done it before so we have no idea if others will join in. We hope you will though, because there is great power in community, especially where entrepreneurship is concerned.
We all need people around us to help us go the extra mile when we think we cannot. Sometimes, an encouraging word from a like-minded colleague is just the ticket to help you push through to your next breakthrough.
An African proverb proclaims that “a rising tide lifts all ships,” and #IndieFlow is one way we can all participate in creating more abundance for everyone.
