Success means different things to different people at different times in different situations. Success is relative, depending on who is defining it and the context in which it is being defined. Some people are afraid of success because of the way others define it. For example, if a highly successful millionaire authors a book having to do with small business success, many readers will measure their success against the author's.
Too often, they draw the sad conclusion that they are not successful unless they too become a millionaire. The truth is that success comes in all forms and is not meaningfully measured by the acquisition of material possessions, but by the acquisition of wisdom and knowledge. Marianne Williamson is quoted as saying,
“Success means we go to sleep knowing that our talents and abilities were used in a way that served others.”
