This is an old post. Effective December 31, 2021, companies manufacturing alcohol-based hand sanitizers under the temporary policies referenced in this post were required to cease production of those products. For more information, visit the FDA's announcement here.

How to Start Using This Coverage
Effective immediately, existing members with current product liability insurance coverage are covered for handmade hand sanitizer.
If the hand sanitizer you sell is not handmade by you, contact us for information on how to get a quote for coverage.
As long as you have coverage and are in compliance with FDA's Temporary Policy for Preparation of Certain Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer Products During the Public Health Emergency, your coverage for handmade hand sanitizer is current and active.
When you renew your policy, if you continue to make handmade hand sanitizer, and/or if you are a purchasing coverage for the first time and you make handmade hand sanitizer, you will need to answer a few questions in order to procure or renew the coverage. While the formal questions are still being ironed out, here is a basic idea of what those questions will be:
- Are your sales for hand sanitizer $500,000 or under per year?
- Did you make the hand sanitizer yourself, as opposed to private label?
- Is your hand sanitizer product at least 60% alcohol, either ethyl or isopropyl alcohol?
- Are you in compliance with FDA's Temporary Policy for Preparation of Certain Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer Products During the Public Health Emergency?
