I recently hosted our first Mastermind Walk™, an opportunity for you to step out of your daily routine and spark fresh ideas, strategies, and collaborations with fellow small business owners. Mastermind Walks aren’t just about business; they’re about building community. Women entrepreneurs come together to connect, form meaningful friendships, and nurture both health and wellness.

Success Through Movement
For our very first walk, we gathered at the Smell of Love Candles booth at Washington, DC’s historic Eastern Market. We were joined by Karen Merritt of Karen's Essentials, one of our newest members. It was the perfect setting to launch something designed to combine movement, conversation, and connection.
The more we walk, the more we open doors to both personal and professional success. Research backs this up. A 2022 Cities & Health study found that walking meetings improve physical and mental well-being, stimulate creative thinking, reduce isolation, and increase motivation. Walking is accessible, simple, and powerful. When life and business challenges pile up, a walk can truly feel like medicine.
In a nutshell, the more we walk, the more we support and foster our own success.
“All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.”
– Friedrich Nietzsche
Here are some scenes from the first Mastermind Walk!

Alejandro is a locally famous Teen CEO. With the guidance of his mom and support from friends, family members, and a growing base of rabid fans, Alejandro is growing an amazing business. He was recently selected to be included in ABC Shark Tank's Daymond John's Next Level CEO, a new business TV series designed to spotlight insightful entrepreneurs.

We used our fitness trackers to record our progress. Our original plan was to walk 1.5 miles, but we were having so much fun sharing and learning. We ended up getting a little “lost,” and walked 2.3 miles!
Among other things, we masterminded dozens of business models and strategies, shared resources, and encouraged each other. A few highlights:
• Ideas for attracting more visitors to be enticed into your show booth
• Ways to get out of our own way
• Great shows to check out and apply for in the DC area
• The importance of self care for moms, and how to be confidently stern yet also nurturing with our children — which is not an easy balance
• … and so much more!

When we arrived back at the Smell of Love Candles booth, of course, we had to go shopping. I purchased several candles, including this one …

… and Patricia created a Citrus Sunshine sugar scrub to match the Jurassic Orange candle I just had to get, because it smells uplifting and happy — just like I felt after this walk!

Keep your eyes peeled for the next Mastermind Walk! We will have several more in the Washington, DC, area (since I am here). I also travel a lot and love to come out and be with IBN members, so if you would like to be a Mastermind Walk Leader, contact us!
