I am very excited that the Indie Business TV set is nearly done. My husband assembled the table we purchased a few weeks ago and we are bringing in a few doo-hickies to spruce things up. Our set has all of the basic elements you will need on your set, and I'll be reviewing them over the next several days. In addition to the basics, I want to share a few of the other things we add from time to time if we need them.
We light the set with several lights, depending on the effect we want to create. In this photo, taken during taping of today's episode, we wanted to create texture on the background so we covered the background lights on my left (on the right side of the picture) with patterns to break up the light and create the texture you see over my right shoulder. (You can see what one of these patterned light covers looks like in this photo at my FaceBook Page — see the black cover with holes in it?)
At the top of the picture, you can see the boom microphone we use so we don't have to worry about lavalier or hand held microphones, and we produce crisp, clean sound. We shot today's Indie Business TV segment on this particular set because it had already been created for a client who was here this morning to tape some of his shows. Since the lighting was already there, and it looks so nice, I decided to slide in after the client to record today's show.
Instead of using the Vado or Flip video cameras we normally use, we used the Sony HDV V1U, the camera we use for client shoots. (I already regret this decision since it's taking more than twice the time to upload the video because it's high definition as opposed to standard definition video. The file is huge! This is another reason we won't get this elaborate very often.)
Most days, we'll be using the standard definition video camera on a basic set because I need to move quickly to record, upload, and deliver a show to you each day.
I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look. Enjoy today's show!
Question: Have you selected an area of your home or office where you can create some videos to showcase what you do?
