Earlier this year, I spoke on social media at the Conference of Handcrafted Soapmakers. While there, I met Malinda Fishman, a staffer with Bead For Life, a non-profit organization that empowers Ugandan women who make gorgeous handcrafted beads from recycled paper and turn them into necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Watch this video of my interview with Malinda.
Since I once lived in South Africa, and have visited a few times since, I have been exposed first-hand to the poverty and hopelessness that many African women live with day after day. Bead For Life touches me in many ways for this reason. I applaud their mission and invite you to enjoy a visit to their informative website and FaceBook Page, and even discover how you can host a Bead Party so you can join them in supporting the beautiful women of Africa.
