Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking at International Natural Hair Meetup Day in Washington, DC. I had such a fun time learning more about how to manage natural hair, especially my daughter's, and enjoyed meeting tons of Makers and Handmade Entrepreneurs from the DC area. The nation's capitol is my hometown, so I was especially pleased to be invited to speak. Here are me and event host Pamela Jenkins, doing our best smoochie selfie!
My topic was “Top 10 Success Secrets For Makers and Handmade Entrepreneurs,” and I had a great time speaking from my heart about specific action items I feel are critical for all business owners, especially people who make the products they sell.
After I spoke, I also met talented Maker named Todd Parsons. Along with his wife, Todd runs a business designing and making beautiful custom, laser engraved earrings. He makes other things too (like keychains, table placemats and decorative wall art), but I was focused on his earrings. I bought some for myself and for my daughter. Todd was kind enough to pose for a picture with me.
If you look closely at the picture of me and Pamela at the top of the page, you'll see that she is wearing earrings that brand her bath, body and hair products business. Are they not gorgeous? Todd made them.
Betcha can't guess who his next customer will be?

Best and success,
