Guest Shares How To Shave Thousands Off Your Grocery Bill
Last week's Indie Business Radio Show was one of the most popular ever. It featured my next door neighbor, Suzanne Phillips, whom I have dubbed "Real Coupon Queen." She earned that title by shaving $7,000 off her grocery bill in a single 12-month period. As soon as I found that out, I knew she had to be on my show. Here's a show clip, thanks to my video guru husband, featuring a valuable tip about how the manner in which you pay for your groceries could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year.
Betcha didn't know that!! Betcha also didn't know how unglamorous it is do to a radio show from the comfort of your own home. Note how "unfancy" the whole thing is. The audio is a little over-modulated so it's sounds a little "crinkly" at times, but you can hear the money saving tips loud and clear. Here's a little overview of how each show is brought to you each week.
How It's Done
I'm holding the telephone, which serves as our microphone to record the audio which is later loaded at the website. In this clip, Suzanne and I are wearing separate microphones to capture audio for the video you are watching.
As the guest answers my questions, I am listening while also staying in touch with Kevin D., the show engineer at Global Talk Radio. Kevin sends me instant messages so I know how long I have before a commercial break and when a listener is calling in. Kevin also tells me when my voice is getting too loud, which happens a lot because I'm excited so much of the time.
After the show, Kevin edits the audio and sends me the stream and download links, which are added to the website with a picture of the guest. If the guest has a book, I include the link where you can easily buy it. I also include a link to the show sponsor (thank you Sponsors — couldn't do this without you!) and the guest's website.
What Do You Think?
So now I want to hear from you. If you have some suggestions for future shows, let me know what they are. And back to couponing. Share your money saving tips here!
We're all in this together Indies, and we have to support and encourage each other. Every penny counts and it's important to save what we can when we can so we have more to put back into our businesses. Oh, and this time of year, we need to have more to send to Santa so we can put a treat or two under the tree for the people we work so hard for all year long.
