You've already met Sandy Engels, our Storyteller in the Emerge Phase of entrepreneurship. Today, I'm thrilled to introduce Christy Rose, our Storyteller in the Engage Phase of entrepreneurship.
Christy's topic on Indie Cruise 2018 is Use Social Media to Earn Hundreds (or Thousands) of Raving Fans.
A Bit About Christy
Most people don't know that Christy started out as a soapmaker. Her specialty was adding swirls of color to every bar of soap she made. Christy's entrepreneurial journey began with making soap. Here's a video from nearly 8 years ago when her specialty was swirls to die for.
Today, Christy has evolved from making soap to making nail polish, plus the bath and body products that complement every facet of your mani-pedi experience. With names like Espresso Yourself; Bean There, Done That; and Bling in the New Year, at KB Shimmer in Terre Haute, Indiana, Christy makes unique glitter nail polish that adds dazzle to your fingertips and complements every outfit and makeup combination you can imagine.
While Christy says that she always took her business seriously, it was not until she lost her job that she began to realize she needed a plan that could grow a business that could eventually support her entire family. In 2012, when her husband quit his job to work KBShimmer full-time, it was “game on” for everyone.
Christy and her husband re-tooled everything, and today, the family business has evolved from handmade soap to offering glitter nail polish and a line of hand and cuticle products that are the envy of every savvy nail technician. I've sprinkled some of her work from her Instagram feed throughout this post to give you an idea of the creative genius Christy is.
