Why new entrepreneurs only?!
I have hosted Maker Mastermind Live 7 times previously, in Atlanta, Portland, New York City, Washington, DC, Greenville, SC, San Francisco, and Boston. Over the years, I have learned that the best way to mastermind your business is to do it with other entrepreneurs who are at roughly the same level of business as you are. I will host other Maker Mastermind Live events for more advanced entrepreneurs in the future.

When I first started doing this work a few years back, artisan made products were few and far between. The industrial revolution and foreign imports had turned everything into a commodity, and very few people were bucking that trend. I had been one of them, having quit my job to make and sell handmade soap in my own retail store outside my hometown of Washington, DC, I was doing something rare and unique.
There was a time when a “handmade” product was easy to sell because there weren't a lot of them to choose from. They were novel. Unique. The simple fact that they were “handmade” set them into a distinct niche all their own.
That was then. This now, and now.
Now, everyone has a business … and it's not just Makers either. Every market is flooded. The Internet is a dirty and noisy pool, and to be successful selling anything, you need to set yourself apart from the very beginning.
You can't just sell “handmade” anything and expect people to buy it.
The Internet is filled with people who quit their job last week and are selling something they made this week. On sites like Esty, Handmade at Amazon, Artfire, which you can establish for free, people are making and selling everything from crochet toilet paper covers to high end handmade jewelry.
It's more challenging than ever to break through the craziness and stand out to the people who want and need your product. But it's not impossible.
There is a better way
Over nearly two decades of working intimately with Makers and Handmade Entrepreneurs, and studying what works and what does not work, I’ve discovered an approach to entrepreneurship that really works for any type of business, and I have tweaked it to apply specifically to Makers and Handmade Entrepreneurs.
