Is Your Website Like Cereal Without Milk, Dry, Tough and Boring?
Have you ever tried eating cereal without milk? I'm not talking about the bite-sized treats that toddlers eat. I'm talking about real cereal, like granola and shredded wheat. You at least need some water or juice to help wash it down.
Websites are no different. They're great, but if all you have is a website, you are feeding your customers cereal without milk and I guarantee you, they are having trouble chewing and digesting what you have to offer. It's dry, tough and boring.
Make It Easy For People To Digest What You Offer
Why should people be happy with a dry cereal website when you can give them some milk to go along with it? It doesn't cost much more and the payoff is great. There's lots of milk to choose from: podcasts and radio shows, blogs, social network marketing options (most of them free), email newsletters, teleconferences, interactive polls, video, etc. The list is endless, and growing as I write the post.
Of course as the place where the shopping cart resides, websites still have a place as basic sustenance for a business. But they're just the tip of the iceberg.
Expand Your Tool Chest
An Indie Business owner's website is like one spoke in the wheel that makes the business turn. But it's just one of a number of available technological tools, and its usefulness tracks technological advances. As technology advances, a business must do the same — and so must its website. Otherwise, it's just a technological tool that has outlived its usefulness.
Show Me The Milk!!
If you offer milk with your cereal, tell me about it. Oh, yeah, I know it's like bragging, but that's what I'm asking you to do. Show me the milk!!
