By now, you have surely heard of the devastation that occurred across the south last week. I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, where multiple storms rolled through for several days. Thankfully, all we saw was rain, hail, wind, and dark skies. The Queen City was spared the multiple tornadoes that ripped across several states, especially Alabama.
Many in that state expect to be without power for at least a week from today, and some have lost family members, friends, homes, and entire communities. As far as I can tell, after calling them this morning, all of my Alabama INDIE Beauty Network members are safe. Nevertheless, many people are shaken and some know people who have yet to be accounted for. I want to take a moment to send a shout out and some good ju-ju to my Alabama INDIEs. - Bee Smack. Hollis Walker makes handmade lip balm using American beeswax, in 4 flavors. Spearmint, Tangerine, Vanilla, & Natural. Hollis is in Tuscaloosa, the city hit hardest by the storms.
- Country Scents Milk Soap Company. Lori Green makes handmade goat milk soap using vegetable oils and fresh goat milk. I'm relieved to read at Lori's blog that the she and her family are safe.
- Eden's Garden Treasures. Jo Graham makes several products, including handmade soap in Lovely Lavender, Cocoa Butter Rose Vanilla, Perfect Patchouli and Energizing Citrus.
- Harmony Artisan Studio. Sandi Garrett Little makes handmade soaps, lotions, scrubs, and other body products in small batches. Sandy is the president of the Alabama Soap & Candle Association. Their annual gathering is coming up this June.
- Sissy's Stone Ridge Soaps. Sharon Tarver makes cold process handmade soap with oils, butters, milks, herbs, fragrances and colors.
- Signature Simone. Jacquel Russell specializes in handpoured soy candles offering inviting and invigorating aromas for home or office.
Of course, my thoughts and prayers were with all affected by the storms.
