Since 2005, I have hosted and produced INDIE Business Podcast. It's one of the best things I've done for my business, and I highly recommend that all small and independent business owners consider hosting their own show. There are tons of free and low-cost technologies available to you these days. Not only can you gather information that improves your life, but you can also produce information that helps others improve theirs. In other words, you can be the water and the pipe.
For years, my show was self-hosted through Global Talk Radio. Last month, I switched to Blog Talk Radio to take advantage of social media benefits, cost savings and other efficiencies. I believe that my show is the longest running weekly Internet radio show or podcast. The first episode of my show aired at the Lifestyle CEO Show on September 21, 2005.
If you know a live, online weekly broadcast of any kind that's aired longer than that, please let me know. I haven't found one yet. While it's not difficult to produce and host a show, the initial investment of time can be quite significant. Nevertheless, it's critical that you get your feet wet in this area. That's why I'm announcing a new program to help you promote your business on my show. It's fun, it will help you spread the word about your business, and it's free if you are a member of IBN! Here's why this is an important opportunity.

You can connect with amazing small business experts and celebrities. My guests have included small business and celebrity personalities and authors like Paula Deen, Jack Canfield, Ali Brown, Shel Israel, Brian Solis, Pam Slim, Mike Michalowicz, David Meerman Scott, Anita Campbell, Sramana Mitra, Chris Widener, Erik Qualman, Mark Sanborn, Tim Berry and so many more.
I have also welcomed IBN members who have distinguished themselves in the beauty industry, including Lela Barker, Debbie Chilatas, Dawn Fitch, Anne-Marie Faiola, Kristin Fraser Cotte, and Dennis and Kayla Fioravanti.
Each of the links above takes you to where you can stream or download my show for free. The content is amazing, and it will help you build not only a better business, but also a better life. I encourage you to listen to each and every show, even if you have no interest in being a co-host.
As a co-host, of course, you have the opportunity to create a relationship with a distinguished and successful business owner and/or author, and that alone is worth the price of membership in IBN.

You can promote your business and share your expertise. When you co-host my show, you and your business are exposed to countless thousands of people, essentially “forever.” People can listen to the show online, they can save it as an MP3 and take it with them wherever they go, they can access you via FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and everywhere else you, me and our collective “tribes” share the show.
INDIE Business Podcast goes everywhere people can take it. The show has legs. With six years of dedication and commitment behind it, it has earned the respect of listeners and guests alike. As a host, it has helped me grow my business. As a co-host, it will help you grow yours too!

You can improve your leadership skills. Many people are afraid of stepping out in this public way. Maybe your business in not perfect. (And whose is?) Maybe you don't think you are articulate enough. Maybe you don't think you have anything to say, or would sound stupid asking a question. Maybe you're shy. Maybe you don't think you have 30 minutes in your schedule on any given week to promote your business. (Lame!) Maybe you're just afraid of something, and you don't even know what it is!
Whatever is holding you back, stop it.
New media are amazing personal development tools, and if you don't personally develop, you cannot effectively lead a business over the long haul. If you don't want to work with me to learn how to use new technologies to achieve your potential, that's fine. But if that's the case, then please work with someone else.
So, what do you say? What's not to love?! If you know of a better, less expensive way to make it possible for people around the world to learn about you and share you with their friends, then I want to know about it.
By co-hosting my show, you learn new things, improve yourself, have fun, connect with another amazing small business owner, expand your personal and professional network, and promote your business all at the same time. And all you need is a telephone and an IBN membership, which will help you grow your business anyway.
My first official co-host is Jennifer Hardaway of KleanSpa in Los Angeles, Ca. Jennifer and I will interview Dal LaMagna, author of Raising Eyebrows: A Failed Entrepreneur Finally Gets it Right, at this link at 1:00pm EST. Join us!
Question: If you are not an IBN member, I hope you enjoy the free shows, but if you are a member and you'd like to co-host a show, please let me know in the comment section below and I'll send you the details. If you'd prefer, you can leave a comment at Private INDIE.com
