Indie Business Tips Round Up [Video]: March 8-12, 2015

What a super week it was! If you missed this week's podcast inspired by a discussion about competition in our private member group, you can get it here. But what I'm really excited to share today is my new video series: #IndieBusinessTips! #IndieBusiness Tips are 15-second videos that originate on Instagram. Instagram has a 15-second limit for video, so once I subtract my 5-second introduction (so people can know who I am), I have a whopping 10 seconds left to share something useful to help you grow yourself and your business.

I'm still getting my timing down, but I love challenging myself to do this once a day, on weekdays, to quickly connect with you and share something of value that won't take up much of your time as a busy Maker and Handmade Entrepreneur, and which will be as relevant for your today as it will be in 100 years. Here are this week's episodes!

Monday, March 9, 2015: How easy it is to use video to connect with your customers and friends

In 2013, over 55% of Americans reported watching streaming videos. Was yours one of them? Video is a smart way to showcase your products and services in living color. You're holding a video camera right now. Use it!

Tuesday, March 10, 2015: How to get Google to send traffic your way

If you want the Internet to deliver consistent traffic directly to your site, then blog at least once a week – minimum. You can't expect Google to feed you unless you first feed Google.

Wednesday, March 11, 2015: How to make sure you'll love leading your business for life

Managing a business that does not support your lifestyle goals is no fun! Before you start a business, decide what kind of life you want, and then build a business around that. It's so much more fun that way!

Thursday, March 12, 2015: You just need to ignore some people

Ignore everyone who says your business should make a certain amount of money. Be inspired by the big money headlines, but you do not have to BE one of them. Decide what success means to you and build it on your own terms.

Friday, March 13, 2015: This is the ONLY thing you need to compare yourself to

Our member, Jennifer Hardaway over at Klean Spa, says “When you compare, you despair.” Compare yourself only to the person you were yesterday. That's comparison enough, don't you think?
