I like to run in the morning after I take my kids to school. But lately, it's been hard to do that because my husband and I have many things to meet about at the beginning of the day. I feel like if we don't get the important meetings out of the way early, they will be swept away in the activities of the day. So I've been running in the late afternoon or evening.
(This photo of me at the gym with one of the fitness instructors is a few years old.) It's not my first choice, but at least it gets done. And no matter what time I run, I always feel great afterward. Tonight, I ran late. It was too dark to go to the track so I ran on a treadmill at the gym. I was the last person there — they practically had to kick me out. It felt good to display such tangible evidence of my commitment. Because RunKeeper (see video) does not work on a treadmill, I don't have complete stats today. Here are the deets:
- Weather. N/A
- Location. Siskey YMCA treadmill
- Distance. 2.47 miles
- Calories. 191
- Time. 9:00pm
- Run Time. 47 minutes
- Playlist. Watched Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room on CNBC.
- Condition. Strong, but bummed that I didn't get to run outside, especially after yesterday's fantastic trail run. I never feel fully exerted on a treadmill, plus I miss the fresh air. And I know I burn fewer calories on a treadmill. I really wanted to burn more today because I have a feeling I'll have one or two Blue Flour Cookies at tomorrow's TweetUp.
Question: If you run, when given a choice, do you prefer a treadmill, an outdoor track, or a trail?
