Today is a super day! One of the best things was this morning's celebration for my daughter's cheer leading team. Each girl performed one of her best jumps, and was awarded a ribbon for her contribution. Here is my sweet Vanessa receiving her ribbon.
Next weekend, we are headed to regional competition. If her team places there, the next stop is Las Vegas. That would sure be fun.
As I watched the girls perform, I noticed that one of them seemed very anxious. She didn't want to go in order of her name, but was determined to go last. When it was finally her turn, she broke out in tears and ran out of the room. The host concluded the event, and ran out after her.
When she returned, we all discovered that she was devastated that her parents had not come to celebrate with her. As I watched her sob, my eyes filled with tears too. I gave her a hug and told her that she did a great job. So did nearly every other parent in the room.
What a reminder of how important it is for our children to know that they are our priority. As a mom with a thriving home-based business, I have to remind myself of this a lot, especially when I'm trying to finish a project when my children want me to be doing something with them.
I speak quite a bit about how “showing up” is a huge part of your success in business. Today's event was a good reminder of the importance of showing up when it counts even more — when your children need to know that you are proud of them.
Question: How was your day?
