Ihave never been a fan of the Oprah Winfrey Show. While I've enjoyed snippets over the years, I've never watched an episode all the way through from start to finish. Since I am an avid reader (I lead a Book Club), I have gotten my doses of Oprah from either her magazine or books she recommends.
But not being a fan of the lady's show does not mean I am not a fan of the lady. I am. I even tried to earn a slot on the new Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). (You can watch my entry video here, and for a laugh, catch the blooper reel here.) I wanted to catch the last episode yesterday, but then I remembered that I could probably buy it in a year or two. So instead, I've been pondering the awesome power of a woman intentionally changing her life without knowing what is going to happen next.
Of course I know that even if OWN is a colossal failure, Oprah will be fine. But that doesn't mean she doesn't deserve props for intentionally scripting an uncertain future.
For a woman who has scripted everything for the past 25+ years, including the lives of women around the world, not having a script must be a little unnerving. But she's doing it anyway, and I am watching …
… because I'm currently working on an unscripted future of my own.
Question: How, if at all, is Oprah impacting your life now — for better or worse? Are you confidently walking forward into you unscripted future?
