Indie Cruise, which I've hosted since 2011, is a boutique mentoring retreat that takes place at a luxury resort on a beautiful Caribbean island. It's designed for people who want to take a pause from the draining and repetitive demands of life and business to clarify their goals, gain new perspectives from like-minded entrepreneurs, and of course, mastermind their business while sipping exotic drinks by the pool or in the middle of the ocean on a chartered catamaran.
Indie Cruise gathers entrepreneurs in a relaxing setting where they can let their hair down and take serious deep dives (sometimes, quite literally!) into the deeper impact they want their businesses to have in their own lives as well as in the lives of their clients and customers.
Welcome to Turks + Caicos!
Despite its name the Indie Cruise does not take place aboard an actual cruise ship. If you want to know why, you can read about that here.) Instead, we will gather at the lovely Club Med Luxury Resort+ Spa in Turks + Caicos. Here is a video from a prior retreat so you can get an idea of what we have in store for you. (See more photo albums and videos at the Indie Cruise website).

Not sure about whether you need to build community around your brand? Here is why it's critical.
Community provides credibility.
When people look for new products and services to enhance their lives, one of the first things they do is ask their friends. If you have a community of people vouching for your offerings, their friends are watching and paying attention. As you support and leverage this kind of natural phenomenon, you will receive more referrals, and you will enjoy more sales opportunities, and thus, more sales.
Community provides visibility.
We all know that people cannot buy what they cannot see. What we often forget is that people won’t buy what they can see if it’s just another commodity that is boring and lackluster because it looks like everything they can buy from everywhere. Community helps you overcome this obstacle by amplifying your message so more people not only hear and see it, but also hear and see others doing the same thing.
Community provides emotional connection.
People will not repeatedly buy a product or service that has no real meaning or which does not evoke some sort of emotional connection. People won't remember an encounter with your product as readily as they'll remember how an experience with your product made them feel, and that's what will keep them coming back for more. If you have a community, this emotional connection will be seen and experienced over and over again by the right people in the right context. This results in more organic opportunities to choose your brand over everyone else's.

No matter what you offer, someone else has it. What can set you apart is your community. Making it easier for people to tell their community members about what you have to offer is the first step in building your branded community.
The truth is that, when faced with two similar products, people are more likely to buy the one that they associate with someone they know.
A community makes it easier for you to release the pressure to always be selling in favor of allowing people to people to decide for themselves that they want to know more about you and what you have to offer. It's a completely different entrepreneurial approach, freeing you from the feeing that youe you have to convince them that they should buy something from you. Your community is an ecosystem in which both you and your clients and customers can more easily thrive.

A branded community helps you sell without being sales-y. it is the key to creating and maximizing opportunities to tell more people about your products so they can have more opportunities to buy them.
