Top 3 Newsletter Publishing Secrets

If you know me at all, you know that I believe in the power of list building and email newsletter publishing. I have published a newsletter for nearly 20 years, so I know what I'm talking about. Newsletters help you generate sales. Newsletters help you drive traffic to your blog and social media pages.

If you do not consistently publish a newsletter, you must be ignoring the advice of someone. While I may be the only person you know who has published a newsletter for nearly 20 years, I know I'm not the only one reminding you of how important it is for you to publish a newsletter.

Top 3 Newsletter Publishing Secrets

On this episode of the Maker Mastermind Show, I was asked for my top three newsletter publishing secrets.

Now, seriously, there really are no “secrets” to newsletter publishing, but I'm using the word anyway. While I know there are no secrets, what I'm about to share are still “secrets” because so many people treat them like they don't exist. Yet, they are the key to successfully publishing a newsletter that helps your business grow. Here they are.

  • Simplicity. Your newsletter does not have to be perfect. You do not need the perfect ideas and you don't need the perfect template. You need not worry that it's going to be “wrong.”
  • Consistency. Pick a publishing sequence and stick with it. Whether it's once a month or once a week does not matter as much as being consistent matters. If you think you cannot handle publishing weekly, then public bi-monthly. Prioritize it. Decide what works for you, and then do it.
  • Authenticity. Be real. Genuinely share the aspects of your life that interconnect with your business. People enjoy “behind-the-scenes” glimpses of how you produce the products they love. Sharing some of the personal aspects of your life allows you to leverage your personal brand for the benefit of your business.
