Twenty two days ago, dozens of Indie Business Network members and I began a journey called the Blog Your Brand 30-Day Challenge. The prize is a complimentary year of membership in the Indie Business Network for everyone who publishes a post, according to our rules, every day from June 14 to July 13, 2015.
As a participant, I figured that at some point during the challenge period, I would begin to run out of steam. Ladies and gentlemen, that time has come.
Perhaps it's because of the crazy fun I am having on vacation right now. Or maybe I'm just weary of the effort required to blog with purpose for 22 days in a row.
Everyone would understand if I skipped a day, right?
It probably wouldn't hurt anything if I skipped a day, right? After all, the prize of a complimentary year of membership doesn't apply to me since I'm a member for life anyway. Surely people would understand why I skipped a day since I was on vacation. I am a mom and a wife and I'm super busy. They'd get that right?
I was having so much fun not working over the past few days that I didn't bother my designer, so I don't have a complementary graphic to go along with this post. Everyone would understand skipping a day under these circumstances, right?
Yes. Of course They would.
But my members are dealing with a lot more than me, and they are blogging anyway, after 22 days.
Blogging anyway …
Some of them have never ever blogged before, and they are blogging anyway.
Some of them have missed the blogging deadline a time or two, and they are blogging anyway — even though they are no longer eligible for the prize.
Some of them are manning very busy fair and trade show tables this month, and they are blogging anyway.
Some of them are sick, and they are blogging anyway.
Some of them are on vacation, like me, and they are blogging anyway.
Some of them don't feel like blogging today, but I know that when I check in on our private discussion forum to see what's what this evening, I will find that they are blogging anyway.
I am blogging anyway
How could I not stand with my fellow entrepreneurial travelers who are working so hard to follow the advice in my popular post about why every Maker and Handmade Entrepreneur should be blogging?
If they can do it, I can do it.
If I can do it, they can do it.
Since they are doing it, I will do it.
Since I am doing it, they will do it.
I do not feel like blogging tonight.
I am blogging anyway.
Question
As an entrepreneur, what do you do when you know you should do something specific for your business, but you really don't feel like doing it? How do you motivate yourself to do it anyway? Do you have a community of awesome people around you like I do? I would love to know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below, or share on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
